Asthma: “Ayurveda as an alternative treatment”

Asthma – a chronic inflammatory condition of airway – arises mainly due to allergies and when the body responses to a trigger. Asthma can be triggeredby exposure to cold air, emotional stress, unfavorable reaction to certain food items, exposure to dust, smoke, heavy exercise and allergens in the air etc. A life-threatening condition, Asthma is characterized by wheezing andbreathlessness. Sometimes it reaches a point, where the asthma patient has to gasp for air.
In Ayurveda, Asthma is mainly caused by imbalanced Kapha Dosha while Pitta Dosha causes cardiac Asthma. Cardiac Asthma symptoms include wheezing, coughing, fever, irritability and yellow phlegm. Symptoms of Asthma caused by Vata Dosha include by wheezing, dry mouth, thirst, dry cough, dry skin, anxiety and constipation.
At Amulya, the ayurvedic therapy prescribed for Asthma depends on the Dosha; the patient is suffering from. We use effective natural panchkarma treatments for Asthma like Virechana and Vamana followed by Rasayana therapy.
In  Virechana, the patient is needed to consume herbal preparations that eliminate toxins through the anal route ensuring the well-being of the patient.

In  Vamana, herbs like liquorice, sweet flag and emetic nut are given to the patient. These herbs induce therapeutic vomiting that eliminates the imbalanced Dosha through upper gastro-intestinal tract.

Rasayana Therapy – This therapy is followed after the Panchakarma treatments, oral medicines are given to the patient along with diet regulation. This therapy restores the normal functions of the body and maintains overall health. It rejuvenates mind and body.
We use ayurvedic medicines that are produced from herbs, vitamins, minerals and proteins that improve immunity.

At Amulya we have got a very good success rate in treating Asthma.
